 Striper - Lower American River
Joe has been fly-fishing for over 52 years and continues to demonstrate his vast knowledge in this wonderful sport. He is retired now from the Sacramento City Firefighters.
On August 16, 2002, Joe landed one of the largest stripers on a fly (picture on right) from the Lower American River. We estimated this fish over 40 lbs. Along with his love of chasing stripers, Joe fishes for steelhead, salmon, and shad on the Lower American River, as he has done for over 40 years. He is one of the first fly fishers to develop methods and flies for this river.

Among his favorite destinations are New Zealand, Alaska, British Colombia, the Bahamas, the Yucatan, Labrador, Nova Scotia, Christmas Island plus states like Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Nevada and Florida. If you have any questions about local fisheries or destinations around the world, Joe can answer them. His gentle attitude and personal attention makes him a great source for information and conversation. Joe is at the shop most Saturdays but will enjoy talking with you anytime.
